Icom IC-706 (All versions) Digital Modes Interface

This spotlight page is designed to help IC-706 owners identify the correct interface for reliable CAT control, audio, and PTT operation with popular software including WSJT-X, JTDX, Fldigi, Ham Radio Deluxe, and Winlink Express.
 

The interfaces we sell work with all versions of the Icom IC-706: the original IC-706, the IC-706MKII, and the IC-706MKIIG.
 

All IC-706 variants are now older radios and none support PTT control via CAT commands. PTT can only be controlled through the 13-pin accessory port. All of our interfaces provide hardware PTT keying via the accessory port PTT line
.

There is another subtlety with the IC-706. This radio provides two PTT pins on the accessory port: one for HF (H-SEND) and one for VHF/UHF (V-SEND). Our interfaces are wired to the HF H-SEND pin as standard. Please let us know if you require V-SEND wiring instead.
 

There is one important exception. The IC-706MKIIG includes a menu setting that links the two PTT lines together. When this option is enabled, an interface wired to H-SEND can also key the radio on VHF and UHF bands.
