This spotlight page is designed to help FT-847 owners identify the correct interface for reliable CAT control, audio and PTT operation with popular software including WSJT-X, JTDX, Fldigi, Ham Radio Deluxe and Winlink Express.
 

The FT-847 is unusual in that it provides separate connections for HF AFSK operation and FM Packet modes. For HF AFSK, the radio uses a 3.5mm stereo jack, with transmit audio and PTT on the tip connection and receive audio on the ring. For FM Packet operation, audio input, audio output and PTT are provided via a 6-pin mini-DIN connector.

Our DigiMode-4 Yaesu (Option 5) is specifically designed to meet the FT-847's unique interface requirements. To support CAT control, HF digital modes and FM Packet operation, the FT-847 version of the DigiMode-4 is supplied with three radio-side connections: a DB9 connector for CAT control, a 3.5mm jack for HF AFSK operation, and a 6-pin mini-DIN connector for FM Packet.
